Student Development And Welfare


Section 1. OFFICE FOR STUDENT DEVELOPMENT AND WELFARE

The OSDW headed by the Dean of Student Development and Welfare directs the non - academic aspects of student life at the collegiate level and coordinates with the school community in matters affecting the college.

The following are the general objectives:

A. To initiate and coordinate specific programs and services for the student's personal and social development.

B. To provide opportunities for the student's active involvement in the life and activities of the school as well as of the wider community.

C. To promote the mode of conduct necessary for the school community leading to an acceptance of, and positive to the school's objectives.

Student Development - this concerns the development programs for student leaders to help them realize their potentials, become better individuals and enhance the right campus atmosphere.

Student Activities - these involve the proper coordination and supervision of general student activities essential to the student's balanced formation and development. It also regulates the operations of all recognized student organizations in coordination with the different departments of the College for the proper utilization of their efforts and capabilities; and to attain their organizational objectives thus helping realize the goals of the College.

Student Discipline - this include the right order of things and require rules and regulations for external discipline to facilities the development of desirable attitudes, values and behavior patterns for the right academic atmosphere and productive individual living in and out of the College.

Moreover, the DSDW supervises student behavior and investigates all reported cases of misbehavior, ascertains all cases and facts and recommends penalty/sanctions to the Ethics Committee for the imposition of appropriate actions. It also periodically recognizes active participation and good leadership by giving certificates/awards for student leadership, athletics and other co-curricular activities in an appropriate ceremony.

Section 2. SUPREME STUDENT GOVERNMENT(SSG) AND YEAR LEVEL ORGANIZATIONS

The SSG is the supreme body of the whole students. It is represented by its eight (8) - President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, P.I.O. and two (2) Business Managers. This set of SSG officers with their adviser and the year-level officers form the Executive Committee (EXECOM) which takes charge of planning the activities involving the different year levels.

The SSG serves as a direct link between the whole student body and the administration; and should be agent for creating harmony and wholesome atmosphere inside the campus. The SSG officers are models for other students. The administration appoints the SSG adviser.

Section 3. CAMPUS AND CLUBS ORGANIZATION

The Binalbagan Catholic College considers campus clubs and student organizations as an integral part of school life. They are considered as training grounds for social and civic life. It is, therefore, the policy of the College to encourage students to join recognizaed clubs and student organizations as a supplement to their formal education as a vehicle for practical and meaningful experiences, greater productivity, and creatice endeavors.

Section 4. STUDENT PUBLICATION

4.1 The Patrician

The Patrician is the official student publication and newspaper of Binabagan Catholic College. This school organ provides a venue for the expression of the student's sentiments,views and aspirations. It serves as a mouthpiece to promote the interest of students and to foster wholesome relationships among the students, faculty/staff and the administration.

The School administration exercises the right to know the content for publication in each issue of the Patrician through the adviser. No other publication is recognized by the Administration.

4.2 The YearBook

As a policy, the College, for reasons of austerity discourages the publication of a yearbook. Should students, or a group of graduating students, insist on having a yearbook, the School allows its publication on condition that it is moderated by a faculty member designated by the school. The students are expected to fully finance it.

Section 5. GUIDELINES FOR STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND USE OF FACILITIES

5.1 Attendance in School Function and Activities

Students are expected to attent all College function and activities, which take the place of classroom activities. Failure to attend will be considered absent from the particular class concerned.

The school is not responsible for any activity not approved bt the proper office

5.2 The Care of Classrooms and School Facilities

The care of the school property and the keeping of the buildings and the campus neat and clean is the concern of each BCCians. Any damage done by students to any property of the school or of the other persons will be repaired or replaced at the student's expense. In addition, the offender is subject to disciplinary action.

5.3 Campus Restricted Areas

A. Chapel/Prayer Room

This area should not be used as a hang-out, study or meeting place in order to preserve and respect the sanctity of the place. Silence must be kept all the times whenever students are near the said area.

B. Corridors

Loitering is not allowed as to not disturb on-going classes. Student should also observe silence when passing corridors, especially when transferring rooms and dismissal.

C. Vacant Classrooms

The classroom is a place of study and its facilities should be used properly. Outside class hours, only students, with permission signed by class advisers,teachers, or Deans, are allowed to stay inside the classrooms.

5.4 Campus Curfew and Overnight Stay

Students are only allowed to stay in school up to 8:00 in the evening. If students want to stay beyong allowed time or overnight, then must secure a written letter request addressed to the Dean of Student Development and Welfare stating the purpose of their stay. The letter must be countersigned by a teacher-adviser. If approved, the DSDW the furnishes a copy of the letter to the Property Office and the school guard.

Students are required to wear their ID and must present the same upon demand by the campus security personnel or by any person in authority. All pertinent Student Handbook policies are considered in effect for the duration of student stay within the campus. No STUDENTS SHALL BE ALLOWED TO GO OUT OF THE CAMPUS BY 10:00 PM. Students are expected to observe CLEAN AS YOU GO policy and care for the used and any damage to property will be charged against them.
